The standard greeting when answering the telephone wasn't always "hello". Any guesses what the first phone-users said?

The trick to flying is thrust.

Go now into the street and ask a stranger to thrust you.

You see a lot of pigeons outside the National Gallery. I suspect they like pointillistic impressionist works based on the pavements there.

In a 1995 study published in the Journal of Experimental Analysis of Behavior, researchers reported being able to train pigeons to discriminate between paintings by Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso when shown slides of their works that they had previously never seen before.

But did they favour the Monet over the Picasso which would fit with my theory (vaguely)?

When T-shirts first came out, they were marketed as "Bachelor Undershirts". Can you guess why?

In 1987, a plane unexpectedly landed in Moscow's Red Square. Onlookers couldn't believe who climbed out... nor could the authorities.
